Distant healing: means sending Reiki healing energy to a person who is not physically present. In distant healing, the healer will obtain information and details regarding the person’s complaint. Communication between healer and the patient may take place either via phone,  internet chat-messenger or email. To send distant healing to a person, the healer will use a photo of the patient in order to focus the healing energy. 

Allthough the body is obstructed by physical barriers, it is not so for the mind.  Wherever mental energy is focused, there it will go, because mind is unobstructed by matter.  Therefore, distant healing is also effective.
